The sustainable compliance and adherence to the principles, objectives and aspirations of the African Charter on Democracy, Election and Governance is sine-quanion to enhancing and sustaining governance, peace and stability in West Africa and for that matter, ACDEG impose on all governments of West African states to demonstrate the political will and commitment to promoting the values, vision and objectives of the African Charter on Democracy, Election and Governance towards entrenching democracy, sustainable development, peace and stability in West Africa. WANEO in cooperation and alliance with its sister civil society organizations and key stakeholders at the regional, continental, international and national levels by building synergies in promoting the common agenda for democratic governance, respect for human right, the observance of credible elections for peace and stability in the West African Region.
In light of the above, WANEO will also liaise and cooperate fully with all relevant stakeholders at the international, continental, regional, national and grassroots levels of democratic governance and development in ensuring that all protocols, treaties, conventions, policy legislations and constitutional provisions bordering on democratic governance, human right, sustainable development, peace and security of which the state parties of West African governments ratified are complied with fully in the general governance and development process of West African states for the betterment of the people of West Africa. WANEO strongly believes that international, continental, regional and national policy instruments, legislation and constitutional text ratified and endorsed by a West African state, is obligatory and must be respected by the State Party for the purposes of ensuring policy credibility and respect for the general wellbeing of the people in a genuine and working democracy.
