The African Union Agenda 2063 is a shared framework for inclusive growth and sustainable development for Africa to be realized in the next fifty (50) years. Aspiration 3 of the African Union Agenda 2063 hugely lays much more emphasis on building an Africa of good governance, democracy, respect for human rights, justice and the rule of law. The African Union envisions that by 2063, Africa will have undergone a deepening of the culture of good governance, democratic values, gender equality, respect for human rights, justice and the rule of law in West Africa and across the African continent. The seven (7) Aspirations of the African Union Agenda 2063 are all interdependent on Aspiration 3 of the 7 key Aspirations of the AU Agenda 2063. This is because attaining the continental vision of building an integrated, prosperous and peaceful Africa, driven and managed by its own citizens and representing a dynamic force in the international arena, all hinges on good democratic governance, respect for human rights and the rule of law in Africa. Hence, the promotion and consolidation of transparent, peaceful and credible elections remain the pivot of good democratic governance, which reflects the will and aspirations of the people in the West African Region and the African continent as a whole.
